Shillong Peak is the highest point in the state of Meghalaya. The height of Shillong Peak is 1961 meters. The Garo Hills region in the western part of the plateau is almost plain. The highest point of Garo Hills is Nokrek Peak which has a height of 1412 meters.

As of 2012, 12,892 mm (507.6 in) of precipitation has been recorded per year.
