Mammoth Cave American National Park is a part of Mammoth Cave National Park. It is the longest cave system known in the world and Son Doong is the largest cave in the world. Son Doong Cave is in the country of Vietnam. It is located in the Quang Binh province of central Vietnam. Son Doong Cave is estimated to be 400 to 450 million years old.
The total length of Mammoth Cave is more than about 680 kilometres. Mammoth Cave developed from a thick layer of Mississippian-era limestone covered with a layer of sandstone. Mammoth Cave National Park was established to preserve the cave system.
Mammoth Cave National Park was established as a World Heritage Site on 27 October 1981, an International Biosphere Reserve on 26 September 1990 and an International Dark Sky Park on 28 October 2021.

Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave system in the world which is almost twice as long as the second longest cave system, the Sac Acton underwater cave in Mexico. The Green River runs through the park, with a tributary called the Nolin River feeding into the green inside the park.
