To the northeast of Egypt, the Gulf of Aqaba separates Egypt from Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The average height of Egypt is 321 meters. Egypt's highest peak is in the southern Sinai province, near the city of St. Catherine. Mount Catherine is the highest peak in Egypt. The height of Mount Catherine is 2,642 meters.
Mount Catherine is locally known as Gable Catherine. Egypt has the lowest altitude in the Katra Depression, at 133 meters above sea level.
The oldest text in Egypt is the Pyramid Text. The Pyramid Text is one of the oldest Egyptian burial texts, dating to the late Old Kingdom. They are the oldest known corpus of ancient Egyptian religious texts.
