Uranus is the 7th planet of the Solar System. This is the first planet, which was discovered with the help of telescope. It is one of the four gaseous planets of the Solar System. Due to the abundance of snow, it is called 'Snow Demon'. The planet Uranus is also called a recumbent planet, because it is tilted 97.77 degrees on its axis.
Uranus, located seventh from the Sun in its solar system, is the coldest planet. So cold that you can't stay here. You already know that for life, the right light of the sun must reach us, just as it reaches our earth. But that much light cannot reach Uranus, because it is so far from the Sun.
The planet Uranus is the planet with the coldest atmosphere in the Solar System, with a minimum temperature of 49K (-224°C, -371°F), and a complex, layered cloud structure. Which has the least clouds with water. The interior of Uranus is primarily composed of ices and rock.
Uranus rotates on its axis faster than Earth. Therefore a day on it is shorter than a day on Earth. One day on Uranus is equal to 17.24 hours.
Uranus has an equatorial radius of 15,882 miles (25,559 kilometers) and a polar radius of 15,517 miles (24,973 kilometers).
Uranus has an equatorial diameter of 31,765 miles (51,118 km) and a polar diameter of 49,964 km, which is four times the diameter of Earth.
The atmosphere of Uranus is made up of hydrogen, helium and methane. When sunlight passes through the upper part of its atmosphere, the methane present in that part absorbs the red light of the sun and scatters the blue light back into space. Due to which this planet always appears blue to us.
The planet Uranus has a total of 27 natural moons (satellites). All of them are named after the works of Alexander Pope and Shakespeare. The 5 moons are named Miranda, Titania, Oberon, Ariel and Umbriel. Titania is the largest satellite among all the satellites.
Uranus was discovered by English astronomer William Herschel on March 13, 1781. He came to know about this planet when he was surveying the stars in the sky with a telescope made by himself.
During the survey of stars, he found a star in those stars something different. After looking closely at that different-looking star several times, it was found that it revolves around our Sun.
Actually, that shining body was not a star but a planet, we know it today as Uranus. In later years, Herschel also discovered two moons of Uranus – Oberon and Titania.
Uranus was first observed by the Greek astronomer Hipparchos in 128 BC. But due to its slow motion and moderate light, he mistook it as a star and included it in the list of stars.

Uranus was also seen by John Flamsteed in the year 1690. But he mistook it as the star of the Taurus Constellation.
